Serving approximately 115 million passengers each year, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority—MARTA for short—is the eighth largest public transportation system in the U.S., operating four lines across roughly 47 miles and 38 stations. Schindler was selected to modernize 109 elevators and 116 escalators systemwide.
Using Schindler INTRUSS®, our proprietary on‑site modernization solution, escalator upgrades were completed faster and more efficiently by keeping the truss in place. All modernized elevators and escalators feature energy‑efficient drive systems, optimized components, and intelligent energy management software, and are remotely monitored through our Technical Operations Center for more efficient, year‑round service.
