Schindler Elevator Corporation Completes Massive Vertical Transportation Installation at one of North America’s Busiest Airport.
Optimizing convenience, safety and efficiency for aviation customers at the new Salt Lake City International Airport
MORRISTOWN, NJ, March 16, 2021 – Schindler Elevator Corporation recently completed the installation of 126 units, including: 65 elevators, 30 moving walks, including four shallow-pit moving walks to accommodate roadway clearance at the facility, and 31 escalators at the new Salt Lake City International Airport. All of the units are equipped with Schindler Ahead, the world’s first fully digital closed loop maintenance, monitoring, and information system for elevators and escalators that connects customers, passengers, equipment and service technicians. The contract also includes an additional 43 units that will be installed in the construction that is currently underway to replace the balance of the Salt Lake City International Airport.
The installation is part of the airport’s $4.1 billion redevelopment program, SLC is the 23rd busiest airport in North America and the 85th busiest in the world. More than 370 flights depart daily to 99 nonstop destinations.

Architectural/Engineering services for the redevelopment were provided by a Team led by HOK. Construction Managers for the program were: Concourse B: Joint Venture Austin Commercial and Okland Construction (AOJV) and Terminal and Concourse A: Joint Venture Holder Construction and Big-D Construction (HDJV).
