Each year, National Elevator Escalator Safety Awareness Week is celebrated the second full week of November in the United States and Canada. This annual event, started by the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF), promotes public safety awareness for our industry's equipment.
Instilling the principles of safety from an early age, on elevators and beyond, is a key way to help future generations live safer than ever before.
If you have a child in grade school, please encourage them to visit the Safe-T-Riders website. Here they can learn about safe riding habits in a fun online program that includes the superhero characters Safe T Boy and Safe T Girl. The website has games, trivia and a printable certificate.
Know someone in college? Have them check out EESF's Rise Up Safe Rider program for colleges and universities. Here they can download safety tips for elevators, escalators and moving walks, and more.
