Coming to the USA: Solar Impulse Makes Cross-Country Flight
MORRISTOWN, NJ, February 5, 2013 – Solar-powered airplane makes most ambitious trip yet.
Solar Impulse, the first airplane capable of flying day and night using only solar energy, is making its debut in the United States in May of this year. Plans are for a cross-country mission across America, starting on the West Coast and ending on the East Coast, with five or six stops at cities along the way. The ultimate goal for Solar Impulse is to fly around the world powered by solar energy.
Schindler, a main sponsor of Solar Impulse, has engineers embedded in the most innovative clean-mobility project existing today. Schindler engineers have access to technology capable of harnessing the sustainable energies needed to wean the world off fossil fuels.
Last week, Schindler announced its first solar elevator, which is up and running in Barcelona, Spain.
