June marks National Safety Month, a time to spotlight the practices and programs that help keep workers, customers, and communities safe year round.
In conjunction with the National Safety Council, each week of the month spotlights a vital theme:

Continuous improvement means learning never stops—and neither does the pursuit of safer outcomes. It’s how you protect people, elevate standards, and build a safer future together.
This mindset fosters a proactive culture where innovation is encouraged, and every challenge is seen as an opportunity to grow. By consistently evaluating processes, identifying risks, and implementing better practices, organizations can help prevent incidents and drive employees to take ownership.
It’s a dynamic cycle—each improvement builds on the last, reinforcing a shared commitment to excellence. In this way, continuous improvement becomes more than a strategy for ensuring safety; it becomes a shared responsibility that drives long-term success.
At Schindler’s Main Learning Center in Holland, Ohio, immersive hoistway and escalator training programs are helping us raise the bar on technical excellence and operational safety.
Safety takes on deeper meaning when viewed through the lens of employee engagement. When employees are actively involved in safety initiatives, they move from being passive rule-followers to empowered contributors.
Engaged employees are more likely to speak up about hazards, suggest improvements, and support their peers in maintaining a safe environment.
Through Schindler initiatives like weekly Take 5s, Safety Alerts, and our Field Quality & Excellence (FQE) Program, we encourage every team member to take ownership, drive meaningful change, and uphold our commitment to quality and safety.
Many people in service jobs spend a lot of time driving, and staying safe on the road is just as important as working safely when they get to their destination.
Every time a team member takes the wheel, they carry with them a promise: that safety, professionalism, and unwavering care lead the way.
By investing in advanced training, intelligent technologies, and a culture of accountability, you can empower every driver. Because when you protect your drivers, you protect the customers and communities who rely on them every day.
Schindler field professionals are always on the move—and so is our commitment to their safety. From defensive driving training to vehicle safety checks, we’re focused on ensuring every journey begins and ends safely.
True safety includes mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. When employees feel mentally, emotionally, and physically supported, they are more likely to engage fully in their roles, communicate openly, and collaborate effectively.
Prioritizing wellbeing reduces stress, prevents burnout, and fosters a culture of trust. This, in turn, leads individuals to speak up about concerns, suggest improvements, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Ultimately, investing in wellbeing is not just a moral imperative but a strategic one when it comes to safety, as it enhances both individual performance and organizational resilience.
Whether it’s access to mental health resources or a flexible work environment, Schindler is committed to helping our people thrive—on and off the job.
At Schindler, safety isn’t a once-a-year conversation, it’s been one of our core values for the past 150 years. One of the main ways we deliver on this commitment is through our FQE program.
FQE takes safety to the next level—ensuring all Schindler equipment passes a rigorous safety check conducted by an independent team. Inspections cover critical safety elements, including braking systems, governor and safety gears, landing door locks, and electrical systems, and either meet or exceed local code mandates.
But excellence in the field starts long before technicians reach the job site, which is why we’re invested in the education and training of our technicians. Last year, we opened our Main Learning Center in Holland, Ohio, equipped with six fully operational hoistways that provide our employees with hands-on, immersive training to ensure we continue to deliver industry-leading service and safety.
Safety is not just a work practice, it’s a way of life.
