Unlike many other companies, we employ our apprentices directly. We employ you for 3 years (subject to regular reviews of your performance) and do all we can to make sure you finish the Programme so that you are able to obtain your trade qualification and National Technical Certificate.
Schindler offers apprenticeships throughout the UK.
An apprenticeship with Schindler gives you the chance to gain diverse skills across a broad range of areas within the organisation including installation, service, repairs and modernisation of elevators, escalators and moving walks.
Our Apprenticeship Programme involves rotations across the business including New Installations and Service. This enables you to get a good understanding of all aspects of what we do assisting you in deciding what you would like to specialise in.
You will build a full range of skills in: installation, service, maintenance & repair of lifts, esclators and moving walkways. You will learn how to deal with customers and experience what exceptional customer service looks like.
Whilst working with Schindler you will attend a local college and study for your National Technical Certificate Level 3. You are paid for working with Schindler whilst also attending college working towards the National Vocational Qualification Level 3 during your 3 year apprenticeship.
The Lift Industry continues to thrive, offering challenging roles and a career to match.
As the world becomes more urbanised, and more people move to the cities for work, we see the requirement for our products and services continue to grow. This means excellent opportunities for skilled people.
The Schindler Programme ensures that you get exposure to electrical, electronic and mechanical disciplines.
We are very proud that our apprentices, having completed the Schindler programme, continue to be employed by us. Many of these apprentices have gone on to senior positions in the field teams and in even more senior roles in sales, project management, engineering and service.
Suitable applicants should have completed, or be about to complete, a Level 2 Foundation Course in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering that contains a practical element, ideally the Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations (PEO). Those who have completed a similar qualification such as a City & Guilds 2365 or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering would also be considered.
Applicants should also possess 5 GCSE passes (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including: Maths, English & a Science subject.
