1935-1979

1935:

  • Established as the manufacturing department in Towa Elevator Industry

1954:

  • Nippon Elevator Industry Co. Ltd. founded

1964:  

  • Transferred the elevator plant from Koto-ku, Tokyo to Katsushika-ku, Tokyo

1966:       

  • Installed Japan's first inclined elevator

1972:

  • Newly established Marine Elevator Division

1973:

  • Started elevator manufacturing in Fukuroi, Shizuoka

1980 - 1989

1985:

  • Schindler acquired 30% of the shares of Nippon Elevator Industry Co. Ltd.

1988:

  • Number of marine (ship) elevators sold exceeds 2000 units

1989:

  • Launched Japan’s first home elevators

1990 - 1999

1991:

        Company name changed to Schindler Elevator K.K.(SEKK)

1994:

        Introduction of escalators and moving walks manufactured by Schindler

1997:

        Launched Schindler 300J

        ISO 9001 certified

1999:

        Launched Schindler Mobile

2000 - 2009

2000:

  • Launched Retrofit Elevator System, Millennium Tower
  • Launched Schindler Smart J
  • Launched Schindler 300J MRL
  • Installed 120 new escalators at 8 train stations (from Shiodome SStation to Yoyogi Station) on Oedo Line of the Tokyo Metropolitan Subway System

2001:       

  • Received Good Design Award 2001 to Millennium Tower

2002:

  • Launched Schindler neu

2003:

  • Head office and Tokyo branch relocated to Etchujima, Koto-ku, Tokyo

2004:

  • Celebrated its 50th anniversary

2005:

  • Launched next generation of escalator; Schindler 9300AE

2006:

  • Implemented New Corporate Identity

2009:

  • Launched next generation of Moving Walk; Schindler 9500AE

2010 - Present


2011:

  • Held the first national Safety Day
  • Installed 15 units of new exlarators for East Building in Canal City Hakata

2012:

  • Launched the renewal package for existing elevator; "LiMO"

2013:

  • Re-launched the new website
  • Appointed the company mascot; "Eleppy" as the safety ambassador

2014:

  • 60th anniversary

2016:

  • Sold the elevator and escalator service business to Nippon Otis Elevator
