On September 29, the Asian Customer Engagement Forum awarded Schindler India’s Igniting Minds initiative the Gold Trophy for the Best Education Scholarship Program.
Schindler India’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is impressive. Every year it runs a range of social initiatives that touch the lives of local communities. The award of this gold trophy shows that these efforts have not gone unnoticed.
The Schindler Igniting Minds initiative was launched in 2015 and promotes technical and vocational education among young people providing scholarships to deserving students from financially underprivileged backgrounds. Many corporations across India are working on similar scholarship and education programs, but Schindler emerged as a winner for its well-defined engagement with students and holistic approach to development.
The engagement journey with program participants includes planned interventions like campus to corporate training programs, internship opportunities, as well as plant and training center visits. This allows them to get acquainted with the dynamics of the industry, getting them ready to launch a successful and sustainable corporate career.
The first 63 students covered within the Schindler Igniting Minds initiative will graduate from industrial training institutes at the end of October 2017. To date 343 scholarships have been awarded and the goal is to offer 1,000 scholarships by 2020.
