Schindler Hong Kong has been awarded the escalator and moving walkways contract for the expansion of Terminal 2 at the Hong Kong International Airport. This marks Schindler’s first project with the city’s aviation hub.
The expansion of Terminal 2 is part of the Three-Runway System project at the airport, scheduled to be completed in 2024. Doubling the size of the existing building and increasing its passenger handling capacity to 50 million passengers per annum ultimately, the enhanced terminal will include outstanding architectural design to facilitate a simple and efficient flow of passengers and baggage.
The project consists of 55 escalators and 21 moving walkways. Schindler was selected for its long-standing commitment to quality and customer centricity. Rigorous universal standards of safety - from production, through installation, and maintenance - is a mainstay feature of every Schindler unit, along with ever-greater improvements in energy efficiency, and economical space savings.
"Jardine Schindler is proud to be a part of this journey in strengthening Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub," said Elton Chan, Jardine Schindler’s Group CEO. "Our mobility solutions are integral to help optimize convenience and safety for passengers at this state-of-art transportation hub."
