Schindler verpflichtet sich zu wissenschaftsbasierten Zielen und verstärkten Klimaschutzmassnahmen

Schindler setzt sich wissenschaftsbasierte Ziele in der Emissionsreduktion und gibt damit ein klares Bekenntnis, den schlimmsten Auswirkungen des Klimawandels entgegenzuwirken.


"Massnahmen zum Klimaschutz braucht es mehr denn je", sagte Silvio Napoli, Verwaltungsratspräsident von Schindler. "Unternehmen wie unseres können entscheidend zum Übergang zu einer emissionsarmen Wirtschaft beitragen. Wir haben noch viel Arbeit vor uns, aber wir sind überzeugt, dass wir das Richtige tun.

"Wissenschaftsbasierte Ziele bauen auf den neuesten Erkenntnissen der Klimawissenschaft auf und bestimmen, welche Massnahmen erforderlich sind, um die Ziele des Pariser Abkommens zu erreichen - den globalen Temperaturanstieg auf 1,5°C über dem vorindustriellen Niveau zu begrenzen. Sie werden von Unternehmen festgelegt und von der Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) validiert, einer Partnerschaft zwischen dem Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), dem United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), dem World Resources Institute (WRI) und dem World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Diese Ankündigung erfolgt im Zuge der Publikation des Corporate Responsibility Berichts für das Jahr 2020. Hierin ergänzt Schindler seine Nachhaltigkeitsziele zudem um die vollständige Umstellung auf Strom aus erneuerbaren Energien ab 2025. Des Weiteren will das Unternehmen ab 2023 an allen Standorten weltweit keine Abfälle mehr auf Deponien entsorgen. Schindler hat 2020 seine Governancestruktur für den Nachhaltigkeitsbereich mit der Einrichtung eines Global Sustainability Committee unter Vorsitz von CEO Thomas Oetterli gestärkt. Im September 2020 ist Schindler dem Global Compact der Vereinten Nationen (UNGC) beigetreten, der weltweit grössten Nachhaltigkeitsinitiative für Unternehmen, und hat damit sein Bekenntnis zu den zehn Prinzipien des UNGC bekräftigt.

Darüber hinaus hat Schindler seine Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung verbessert und erstmals Kennzahlen des Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) vorgelegt, während gleichzeitig damit begonnen wurde, die Empfehlungen der Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) umzusetzen. Zudem aktualisiert Schindler sein Materiality Assessment, dessen Ergebnisse voraussichtlich im Laufe des Jahres 2021 veröffentlicht werden.
