Wettbewerbs-Eröffnung Schindler Award 2012

Einer der führenden Architekturwettbewerbe Europas, der Schindler Award, nimmt ab sofort Anmeldungen für den Wettbewerb 2012 entgegen. Anmelden können sich Architekturstudenten und -hochschulen aus ganz Europa. Es gilt, das Leitmotiv „Access for all“ in der Planung umzusetzen. Bewertet werden die Projekte von einer Jury aus international renommierten Experten unter dem Vorsitz von Prof. Kees Christiaanse von der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) in Zürich.

Studierende und Architekturschulen sind eingeladen, Vorschläge für die Umgestaltung eines vernachlässigten Bezirks der ansonsten hervorragend erhaltenen Altstadt von Bern, der Hauptstadt der Schweiz, einzureichen. Den Projekten muss ein Masterplan beiliegen, der überzeugend Antwort auf die Mängel des Wettbewerbs-Areal „Schützenmatt“ gibt. Der Fokus des Awards liegt auf dem städtebaulichen Konzept. Eine besondere Herausforderung sind dabei der Zugang zum nahe gelegenen Flusstal sowie die Integration von sozialen Einrichtungen.

Architektur für Alle

Das Leitmotiv des Wettbewerbs ist „Access for all“, eine Designphilosophie, die den Wunsch nach Mobilität für Menschen aller Altersstufen und körperlichen Fähigkeiten berücksichtigt. Der Schindler Konzern - der den Wettbewerb bereits zum fünften Mal organisiert - ist überzeugt, dass barrierefreie Mobilität ganzheitlich zu betrachten ist: Die Zugänglichkeit öffentlicher Gebäude und Plätzen muss für alle Menschen möglich sein, unabhängig von deren Alter, körperlichen oder geistigen Fähigkeiten. Die Differenzierung zwischen "behindertengerechter" und "normaler" Architektur soll abgeschafft werden; gefragt ist eine nachhaltige barrierefreie Architektur, die allen gerecht wird.

Hervorragende Gelegenheit für angehende Architekten

Der Wettbewerb 2012 ist eine hervorragende Gelegenheit, neue Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten für eine der am besten erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Städte Europas zu entwickeln. Das "Schützenmatt" Areal grenzt nordwestlich an das historische Stadtzentrum und liegt nur wenige Gehminuten vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt. Geteilt durch eine Eisenbahnbrücke und von einem Chaos von Strassen und Häusern sowie einem Parkplatz für Autos und Busse eingeschlossen, liegen auf dem Wettbewerbsgelände ausserdem Museen, Kulturzentren und eine Abgabestelle für Drogenabhängige.

Studierende, die sich für die Teilnahme am Wettbewerb 2012 interessieren, melden sich online. Ausserdem verleiht der Wettbewerb Preise an Architekturhochschulen, die das Konzept „Access for all“ in ihre Lehrpläne aufnehmen. Anmeldeschluss ist der 30. April 2012. Die Projektvorschläge müssen bis zum 30. Juli 2012 eingereicht werden.
