IGBC ‘Platinum’ rating awarded to Schindler India’s elevator factory

Schindler India received the Green Factory Building 'Platinum' rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in the re-certification audit on its elevator factory in Chakan, Pune, conducted last month.

"Schindler is committed to conducting its business activities in harmony with society and the environment. Schindler's products and services are designed to provide energy efficient and eco-friendly solutions to architects, contractors and building owners." said Uday Kulkarni, President of Schindler India and South Asia.

With new initiatives like solar energy usage, the re-use of packaging pallets, recycling of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU), and ongoing water and energy conservation measures, Schindler India was able to enhance the already existing IGBC Gold rating for the elevator factory to the coveted Platinum rating. This outstanding award was possible due to the collaborative efforts of all employees at the factory.

Commitment to the Indian market

The Schindler India campus in Chakan, Pune, houses the elevator factory, a 71-meter tall test tower, an R&D center, as well as the upcoming escalator plant. It is a testimony to Schindler Group’s commitment to the Indian market. This recognition reaffirms Schindler India’s efforts to build a sustainable campus for its employees and offers them an environmentally friendly work experience.

The Indian Green Building Council is part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and was formed in 2001. The vision of the council is to enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025.
