For Schindler South Africa, Corporate Social Responsibility is more than just a statement.
The day started a little different for our team in South Africa. The managing director Jorge Ramos loaded his car together with his team in Johannesburg with gifts for underprivileged kids and made his way down 250km of dusty roads to a secluded area in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, where they met 96 children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The school, situated in the farmlands, barely has a basic structure. Our colleagues from South Africa handed out school shoes, school socks, a new school bag along with a healthy snack hamper to each child.
And for Jorge and his team this isn’t a one off, they already arranged to help 372 disadvantaged children in another school with donations of shoes and clothes and healthy food hampers.
Schindler South Africa has also started making arrangements to assist another primary school with proper fencing for the protection of the students. And it’s not just the young that Schindler South Africa works to help, the team has also been donating blankets to the elderly.
And the reward? There’s not more beautiful than happy and smiling kids!
