Schindler factory produces PPE to protect against COVID-19

For the last 22 years, Schindler has manufactured elevators in its production facilities in Londrina, Brazil. This April, colleagues added a new item to this output – face shields to protect against COVID-19.

Supporting Londrina in difficult times

Atlas Schindler has a strong commitment to social responsibility and the communities it works in. The company takes its role as a responsible corporate citizen seriously and strives to deliver value beyond the provision of its products and services. When COVID-19 began to spread in Brazil, the company knew they would take action.

During April and May, colleagues from the factory donated the PPE they had produced to local government institutions and healthcare providers, including Londrina City Hall and two of the city hospitals.

“It was the strength of this city that led us to stand out on the world stage and also to become an export hub for Latin America,” said Wagner Oliveira, Industrial and Supply Chain Director at Schindler in Brazil. “We could not be absent in this moment of struggle to contain the advance of COVID-19 and we want to contribute to the safety and health of those who are at the front of this fight”.

Employee action in Brazil

Atlas Schindler has also offered its employees ways to donate to social organizations fighting against COVID-19. As part of its “Solidarity in Maintenance” campaign, employees can for instance buy a t-shirt with the campaign slogan – the proceeds will be donated to local organizations. Moreover, the company matched charitable donations made by employees.
