Schindler’s industry leading technology elevates the Westmead Health Precinct in Sydney.

In May 2020, Schindler delivered 22 elevators for the Central Acute Services Building as part of the Westmead Redevelopment, one of the largest health infrastructure projects in New South Wales, Australia.

Equipped with the latest Schindler elevator technology, the building has transformed the Westmead Health Precinct in western Sydney which, at 14-storeys, it is the tallest health building in Australia.

The Central Acute Services Building comprises two new emergency departments, digital operating theatres, more than 300 patient rooms, and education, training and research facilities.

The building features Schindler’s industry leading elevator technology including PORT, Lobby Vision and Schindler Ahead’s remote monitoring services.

Latest technology for the health sector

The building features Schindler’s industry leading elevator technology including PORT, Lobby Vision and Schindler Ahead’s remote monitoring services.

“With Schindler’s PORT technology, the solution has assisted in prioritizing traffic flow through the building. In the event of a medical emergency, nominated clinicians can swipe their card and go straight to their designated floor to assist their patient, helping to reduce emergency response times,” said Schindler Australia Managing Director, Paolo Beltrame.

In relation to the Schindler PORT technology, Multiplex engineer Andy Tsang says, “It also saves energy and is better for the environment because the building won’t have lifts continually going up and down to every floor like traditional systems.”

With major construction completed three months ahead of schedule, the Central Acute Services Building will provide much needed services for the western Sydney community, especially at this critical time.
