Schindler Award

The Schindler Global Award

The Global Schindler Award is a competition for students of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, where they are asked to submit outstanding concepts for new urban forms related to mobility, in response to global urban change. A jury of internationally renowned professionals in urban design and architecture will assess the competition entries.

The students of today will be responsible for shaping the cities of tomorrow. Building on more than 10 successful years in Europe, the Schindler Award has been expanded in 2014 to accept entries from around the world. The next edition will be held in 2016/2017 with entries due by end of 2016.

Schindler Award

Urban through mobility

Mobility systems can be used for greater inclusion, connection and accessibility for all, to
generate new responses to the challenges and possibilities of a shared urban future.

The competition intends to inspire solutions to the growing challenges of transportation and
mobility in dense urban environments.

Schindler Award 2016/2017

The Schindler Global Award is back – and it’s moving from Shenzhen to São Paulo! The Schindler Global Award 2016/2017 will focus on the impact and implications of current and future mobility systems in one of the most globally significant cities in South America: São Paulo

The competition will begin in mid-2016 and end in mid-2017. The SGA is open to final-year bachelor’s and all master’s degree students of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, from degree-granting educational institutions worldwide.

The SGA is committed to presenting a diverse range of geographic, cultural and urban contexts to help prepare students for the increasingly globalized nature of design thinking and practice. Students will be encouraged to come up with designs that respond to fundamental questions about life in contemporary cities, from living conditions to environmental balance, and from infrastructure to public space.
