On September 2, 2019, Li Qiang, Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, inspected the Schindler Jiading Campus on his investigation tour of the industrial economic development in Jiading District. Mr. Daryoush ZIAI, CEO of Schindler Zone China, and Mr. Henry ZHENG, Chairman of Schindler China made a presentation about the company and its business in China, and accompanied the Secretary General during the visit. Secretary General Li inspected components in the showroom, asked about technology research and development, went to the escalator factory to see the production of escalators, and exchanged opinions with Schindler’s management team.
Mr. Daryoush ZIAI, CEO of Schindler Zone China, made a detailed presentation about the 40-year history and development of Schindler China, Schindler’s Jiading Campus, and the innovative technologies and services that Schindler Group has launched in recent years – The PORT Technology and Schindler Ahead – to Secretary General Li Qiang.
Li Qiang spoke about the “Supply Chain Driven Economy,” and said that advanced manufacturing and high-end manufacturing are two important directions for Shanghai's industrial development. He hoped Schindler Group would fully tap the huge potential of the Chinese market and the Shanghai market, in terms of demand for products and services, but also to leverage the significant capabilities of Chinese industry for supply of equipment and components for China and globally. He expressed his satisfaction at the high level of product localization at Schindler China, and took positive note about the fact that Schindler Group has a number of global suppliers based in China.
Secretary General Li Qiang also spoke about a 2-way flow of technology and product development between China and Europe. He was pleased to learn about the scope and size of R&D at Schindler China, and encouraged Schindler to focus resources on achieving integration of the elevator industry with emerging information technologies such as the IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence. He also stressed that Schindler should introduce new technologies, products and services to Shanghai in order to further enhance smarter, safer and a more comfortable user experience.

We will continue to work hard to accelerate the development of next-generation technology and intelligent elevators, and make new contributions to China’s and Shanghai's economic development.
