On the occasion of “3•15 International Consumer Rights Day” in 2017, Schindler China conducts safety examinations of 218 Schindler escalators along the metro line 2, 3, 5 and 6 from March 13 to March 24 jointly with Shanghai Metro.
“With the rapid development of Chinese rail transport system, the increasing number of commuters, unsafe escalator behaviors and the complex outdoor environments put more challenges to the vertical rail transport system. Passengers’ safety and operating quality of public escalators have thus become the concerns of the public.” said Qiu Hai, Vice President of Large Projects Department Schindler China.
“On this special occasion of the International Consumer Rights Day, we decide to give a free thorough examination of over 200 Schindler escalators operated along the Shanghai Metro lines focusing on the functions and effectiveness of safety components. We want to make sure our products are safe to use and enhance comfort through this action. We have also conducted regular safety campaigns emphasizing the importance of escalator safety. We are committed to building a safe escalator environment for passengers.” said Xu Liang, EI Manager of Shanghai Branch of Schindler China.
Over 30 maintenance staffs from Schindler China joined the two-week “Safety Examination” activity. They will spend 3 to 4 hours examining the truss, handrail, protective plate, brake, safety circuit, sensor of each escalator.
Schindler has remarkable performance in public transport projects. Apart from Shanghai Metro, Schindler is also the elevator and escalator supplier in city rail transport systems, high-speed train stations and airports in Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing and many other cities.
