Schindler is to provide 232 elevators and escalators for a series of prestigious projects in Pearl River New Town, Guangzhou. The development, known as the Guangzhou Gaode Center, consists of office towers, shopping malls and a seven-star hotel belonging to Dubai's Jumeirah Group. Schindler solutions will also provide connections to the Guangzhou subway.
Schindler is the only mobility provider for these projects, which cover an area of 880’000m2 in Guangzhou, capital of China's Guangdong province. The Gaode Center's developer is the Gold Tak Land Holding Company, a leading real estate developer in southern and eastern China.
"We are delighted that we were able to win the trust of the Gold Tak Group and its chairman, Su Meng, for this highly demanding project," said Silvio Napoli, President of Schindler Asia-Pacific.
The Gaode Center, designed by Los Angeles architects AJLA (Anthony J. Lumsden & Associates), will be realized in two phases, scheduled for completion in 2009 and 2012 respectively. Schindler will provide a total of 118 high-performance Schindler 7000 elevators, as well as 26 customized Schindler 5400, and 88 Schindler 9300 escalators.
All the office towers will set new standard with Schindler state-of-the-art traffic management system, which meets the highest office requirements. The Phase II hotel shuttle elevators will reach speeds of 10m/s, becoming the fastest elevators in southern China.
Other notable contracts won by Schindler in southern China include Guangzhou's Shangri-La hotel and Poly Towers, as well as many of the city's new exhibition centers, and the New World Center in the southern city of Shenzen.
