Yes, all participants in the program must spend at least two years working in another country. Candidates who enter the program in stage would most likely work abroad for stage 3. Will I have the opportunity to work in other countries, and will I work in multicultural teams? Yes, from the very beginning at Schindler, employees are encouraged to live and work abroad and to experience life outside their own culture. What international opportunities are there at Schindler? Schindler is a global company with subsidiaries in more than 130 countries, so there is a wide range of international opportunities within the Schindler Group. Training is available in many forms at Schindler, from formal classroom training to on-the-job skills development to e-learning. Schindler employees have access to the training they need for specific projects and to a culture of learning that allows them to progress rapidly in their careers. Read more about this topic in Training or under People Development. When and how will I be evaluated? Evaluation at Schindler is taken very seriously. One of the most important components of professional development is learning from previous experience. We accept applications at any time. Are there fixed start dates for which I need to apply? Are there any deadlines? How early should I apply for the program? The Schindler Career Development Program starts in April and October. We welcome applications at any time. After being hired you will commence your stage after having taken part in the next Entry Conference. You can find the specific application deadlines in job descriptions. How do I submit a résumé? The most efficient way to submit your résumé is by applying for an open SCDP position. You can find job offers under Application or Job Market. How does the interview process work? Our hiring criteria are virtually identical worldwide, although there may be some differences in the interviewing process for different positions and different offices. With more than two years of relevant work experience you can enter the program at stage 2. Can I apply for the program even if I have never lived/worked abroad? Having previously lived or worked abroad is an advantage, but not essential. Our requirements depend very much on the positions we need to fill and the selection criteria specified by the department in question. At any rate, you should enjoy working in an international environment and be highly mobile. Do I have to choose one specific functional discipline or can I apply for several disciplines at the same time? You should apply directly for a specific job posting placed by the respective department. The decision about which functional discipline to choose is very much dependent on your previous practical experience. If your education was very broad-based, you can indeed apply for different job postings in different functional disciplines. I definitely want to work in engineering. How and where do I apply? You can apply for a specific job posting. However, it is very important for us that our employees are flexible and open to the possibility of working in other areas too. Pre-requisites Is it possible to take a Master's degree while taking part in the program?
No, it is not possible to study for a Master's degree while taking part in the program. A Master's is a pre-requisite for being accepted into the program because the purpose of the program is to develop participants' specialist skills and to integrate them into the Group. Which degree subjects are you looking for? Generally, we are interested in applicants with a very good master's degree in a technical or business-related subject. Please refer to our website for specific job postings which contain more precise details. What language skills do I need to join the program? To join the Schindler Career Development Program you need sound English language skills, as well as a very good knowledge of the language spoken at the site where you would like to start work. The command of any additional language is advantageous, especially for your placement abroad. Do I need a Master's degree, or is a Bachelor's enough to be accepted on to the program? The program is geared toward graduates with a Master's degree. Because of the differences in educational systems we require a five-year university degree, which we consider to be a "Master's". What documents do I need to include in my application? Please attach your CV, your Master's certificate (including grades), proof of your English proficiency and any other diploma supplements. Additionally we would like to find out more about your extra-curricular activities during your studies. top |
