Schindler has equipped the Chinese capital's tallest building, the China World Trade Centre Tower III, with elevators capable of travelling at speeds of 10 m/s. The 330-metre structure is fitted with 63 elevators – 50 of which are the top-range Schindler 7000 – as well as 30 escalators.
The China World Trade Centre brings a new high point to Beijing's increasingly impressive skyline. Completed in 2009, it contains more than 759,000 m2 of office, residential and retail space. Schindler's contribution is a major source of pride for the company's Top Range Division (TRD), which spent three years negotiating the agreement. Four Schindler 7000 systems act as shuttles between the main entrance and the hotel lobby on the 72nd floor. The cars travel at their top speed of 10 m/s for some 200 metres. They reach full velocity in 11 seconds (over 55 metres); braking takes the same amount of time. These are the fastest elevators yet installed by Schindler in China. |
